Patna, Feb. 13: The army captain, who had gone missing from a train on February 6, walked in to Kotwali police station in Faizabad (Uttar Pradesh) today.

He claimed that he had been abducted.

Captain Shikhardeep (24) had boarded the Mahananda Express (15483) from Katihar on February 6 for Delhi.

Jitendra Mishra, the superintendent of police (rail), Katihar, confirmed that the captain had been recovered and a team had been sent to Faizabad to bring him back. "Faizabad police have not been able to talk to him properly as he had been taken away by the army personnel from Dogra regiment. The army is expected to hand him over to us by this evening," the officer told The Telegraph.

Shikhardeep is a resident of Laliyahi in Katihar town, around 325km east of Patna. His family had launched an FIR with the Katihar government railway station after the man went missing. Sources said Shikhardeep's cellphone was last traced at Nalanda. It was switched off after that.

Police saidduring initial questioning, Shikhardeep said he had left his compartment at Patna Junction for water. He lost consciousness after that.

"The captain is not very clear with his answers. He said he did not remember anything after he left the train. Once he regained consciousness, he found himself tied up in an unknown place. He managed to free himself and fled. He reached the police station this morning. The police expect to bring him to Katihar by Sunday. There is no information about any untoward incident on the train," said an investigating officer of Katihar police station.
