Patna, Nov. 28: Mudras and Gayatri mantra chants were the focus of a two-day meditation camp held on Jaiprabha Mahila Charkha Samiti premises over the weekend.
Organised by Shanti Kunj, Haridwar, Uttaranchal, Ashok Kumar Faridrajak, the central representative from Shantikunj, and Lal Bihari Singh trained the 70 participants.
Focussing on the importance of meditation, Faridrajak said meditation not only helps in concentration but also increases the memory power of an individual. Moreover, several diseases can be controlled through meditation and yoga. Yoga also helps mental and physical development of an individual.
Talking of various mudras, Faridrajak said: “In this type of mudra, the front portions of anamika and angustha are used. This mudra does not only relieve weakness from a human body but makes the digestive system stronger and helps the skin to glow.”
On the other hand, gyan mudra is performed with the help of angustha and tarjani. The front portion of both these have to be touched with each other. The rest of the three fingers are kept straight. Ashok said: “This mudra helps a lot in concentration and in curing headache, anger and depression.”
This mudra also helps in strengthening memory and acquiring divine power. Gyan mudra helps in relieving mental imbalance, laziness and depression.
The power of yoga and meditation has been accepted by western countries too.
Kumar also focussed on pran mudra.
He said: “In this mudra, the front portion of kanishtha and anamika along with angustha is joined with each other. Sages have also observed that a person who fasts keeps healthy and mentally fit, as it increases the metabolism mechanism of the body. For a country like India, which still faces food problems, a person, who fasts, saves food which can easily be provided to crores of poor and hungry people.
After attending the meditation camp, one of the participants, Pushpa Choudhary, said: “The camp has enlightened me about the different advantages of performing yoga and meditation. Now, I feel quite benefited and would practise the mudras regularly. Diseases like arthritis, high blood pressure, hypertension and insomnia can be controlled through these.”
Another participant, Ajay, a professional, said: “In the stressful life we lead, meditation is really important and it should be practised regularly.”
