Gaya, Nov. 9: The Maoists, in a bid to revolt against the combing operation of security forces in Gaya, demolished two buildings of upgraded middle school yesterday evening.
Heavily armed squad of the rebel group demolished the buildings of the schools under Barachatti police station in Sherghati sub-division of Gaya by using JCB machines.
It is for the first time that the Maoists have used JCB machines in Sherghati sub-division to demolish a building. The Maoists have been using either can bombs or dynamite rods to blow up buildings.
Around one year back, the Maoists had used JCB machines to damage the Imamganj-Lutua road. It is believed that the Maoists have demolished the school in reaction to the intensive combing operation launched by the security forces. Three days back, during the combing operation, Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF) and the COBRA battalion security personnel had stayed at these schools at night.
According to reports, a squad of around 100 heavily armed Maoists, arrived at Dhangain village under Barachatti police station area at around 11pm yesterday and demolished the upgraded middle school.
Subsequently, they reached Haresari village under the same police station area and demolished the middle school building. Both the school buildings were razed to the ground. Distance between the two schools is around 2km. The COBRA battalion camp is around 35km from the schools. The police said the owner and the JCB machine driver have been identified and they will be arrested soon.
During the intensive combing operation that started on November 1 and continued till November 3, security personnel have recovered around 4,000 live cartridges and busted a permanent base camp of the Maoists in the dense forests around Kubra hills near Lutua village.
On November 7, security personnel recovered three country-made rifles, a gun and seven live cartridges from Kumbh village under Barachatti police station area following a combing operation.
On November 4, Union home secretary R.K. Singh had held a meeting with Bihar home secretary Aamir Subhani and state police additional director-general (operations) P.M. Nair and other senior administrative and police officers at the COBRA camp at Babhandih. The Union home secretary has assured to make available more central para military forces and helicopter to launch an effective combing operation against the Maoists.
