Patna: Only morning walkers will be allowed entry into Gandhi Maidan from August 10-13, and then no one till August 15, divisional commissioner Anand Kishor said on Saturday.
The decision was taken during a review of preparations of Independence Day celebration in the city.
"The building construction department will ensure that barricade work inside the ground is complete by August 10. After August 10, only morning walkers can come in, and nobody will be allowed to enter from August 13 till the function is over," said Kishor, who was accompanied by district magistrate Kumar Ravi, senior superintendent of police Manu Maharaaj, traffic superintendent of police (SP) P.N. Mishra and others.
"The Patna Municipal commissioner will ensure there is no waterlogging at the ground, and the building construction department will prepare the parade track by July 29," Kishor instructed. Wiring for the public address system should be underground, Kishor said.
Central Reserve Police Force, Central Industrial Security Force, Indo Tibetan Border Police, Sashastra Seema Bal, Bihar Military Police, state disaster response force, national disaster response force, home guards, National Cadet Corps and dog squad have been approved for the parade, Kishor added. Rehearsals will start from August 1 and end two days before the final day.
The ground will be cleaned before start of rehearsals and again on August 13.
Instructions have been given for four medical centres across the ground with trained medical staff and necessary medicines on hand. All four centres should have ambulances besides at the four other gates. The public health and engineering department has been asked to set up water tankers and water ATMs.
