Patna, May 9: In Bihar, everyone aspires to become a leader.

With the same desire, a man approached chief minister Nitish Kumar at his janata darbar urging the chief minister to make him a Member of the Legislative Council (MLC).

The man, Khatai Lal Rai, claimed to have served the chief minister and JD (U) for more than 22 years. He said he wanted a reward for being loyal to the party and the chief minister. Nitish knew him very well and seeing Rai at the darbar Nitish remarked: “Oh! Khatai tum phir aa gaye.”

Khatai didn’t disclose his intentions but he first urged the chief minister to open a government school at his native village under Bathmal panchayat of Raj Nagar Block in Madhubani. When the chief minister was listening to his first plea Khatai put forward his second demand urging the Nitish to make him an MLC.

Nitish after listening to his problem referred Rai’s application to his officials. Rai, who was not in a mood to relent from airing his grievances made his plea before the officials of chief minister’s secretariat. The paparazzi that were surrounding Rai didn’t miss a chance to click his photographs. Seeing this, Nitish said: “Khatai tum apna problem batane nahi aaye ho kewal photo khichana chahtey ho (Khatai you have not come for airing your grievances but for getting your photo clicked which will appear in the next day’s newspapers).”

Later, Rai told The Telegraph:“I have served the chief minister for such a long time that I needed a reward. Making me an MLC is not a big thing for Nitish Kumar and in the present situation when the ruling coalition is having full majority, the task of the chief minister is not too tough.”
