The LJP will contemplate on the reasons for its poor showing in the Assembly elections next week.

LJP boss and Union minister Ram Vilas Paswan and his son Chirag Paswan will discuss the reasons behind their performance.

The party with six MPs in the Lok Sabha contested 42 seats in the Bihar elections, but managed to win only two seats - Govindganj and Lalganj. The defeat was a big shock for the LJP, as even its state president Pashupati Kumar Paras lost from Alauli in Khagaria, the home district of the Paswans.

Spokesperson Ashraf Ansari said: "Our leaders are coming to Patna to celebrate Chhath and after the festival, they will discuss the party's performance in the elections."

Sources said lack of cooperation from BJP cadres and wrong selections of seats are to blamed for the result. They said there was no mutual understanding between the BJP and the NDA partners.

An LJP leader said: "As the BJP has a weak base in Seemanchal, majority of the seats the LJP was offered was in that belt."
