Patna, Aug. 24: Lok Janshakti Party (LJP) state unit president Pashupati Kumar Paras today attacked the Nitish Kumar government over the Aurangabad incident in which five members of a Mahadalit family allegedly committed suicide after being cheated of Rs 20,000 sanctioned under Indira Awaas Yojana in Bhatan Bigha village.

Paras demanded judicial probe into the incident and compensation to the dependents. “The incident, which occurred last Sunday shows that corruption has crossed all barriers under the leadership of Nitish. The family was cheated by middlemen and their money was fraudulently withdrawn from their accounts. The incident shall not be doused off so easily. We want a judicial probe from the present high court judge along with Rs 10 lakh compensation to the family,” he said.

On August 21, Rambachan Rajvansi, his wife Suneeta Devi and their three children allegedly committed suicide by pouring kerosene and setting themselves ablaze after they came to know that somebody had withdrawn money sanctioned under the Indira Awaas Yojana from their account.

The LJP has sent a team to the village on the direction of party chief Ram Vilas Paswan. “We have sent a five-member team to Bhatan Bigha village to inquire the whole incident. We have come to know that the police have tried to suppress the case by saying that the family members did not commit suicide but they house caught fire. The police version is not correct at all. They committed suicide after being cheated by middlemen,” Paras said.

Party general secretary Satyanand Sharma said: “In fact, Rambachan went to file a case in the police station but they refused to accept his complaint. The family then went to the block development officer but even he did not listen to them.”

He demanded strict action against the SP and the DM and said their versions were not true.
