Patna: The police's quick mobile team conducted several liquor raids in the city area, seizing country-made and Indian-made foreign liquor, in the last 24 hours.

Raids were also conducted in Bihta and Gopalpur areas where police destroyed illegal breweries.

A quick mobile team, led by sub-inspector Sunil Choudhary, seized a car and recovered around 160 liquor bottles from the Gaighat Pipapul area under Alamganj police station on Monday. A person was also arrested.

In another raid, the team led by Dineshwar Ram recovered 11 liquor bottles from a youngster at Dhunki More when, according to police sources, he was going to deliver the contraband to customers.

In yet another raid in Agamkuan area, police recovered 10 litres of country-made liquor from a person. The man had bought the liquor from Gaighat area and was going to supply it.

Early on Tuesday morning, police in rural Patna conducted a raid at Taregana Tope under Bihta police station and destroyed 10,000 litres of liquor.

The police said illegal liquor traders had constructed illegal breweries in the area.

Bihta police station house officer Ranjit Kumar said: "The village where the illegal breweries were running from is in a diara (riverine) area on the Sone river. The area comes under the jurisdiction of Patna and Bhojpur districts."

The police claimed the liquor from the illegal breweries was being supplied to Bhojpur and Patna on boats and bikes.

Four people were arrested in the Tuesday raid, including one who was held earlier on charges of violating prohibition and released on bail.

In another raid on the same village, the police recovered another 400 bottles of country-made liquor.

Gopalpur police, in another raid, recovered 50 litres of country-made liquor and arrested nine persons.

Patna senior superintendent of police Manu Maharaaj has directed all police stations to conduct regular raids, especially at night, to check liquor smugglers.
