The construction work of the unfinished Badildih bridge over river Kiul in Maoist-hit Jamui would be soon resumed under the protection of CRPF.
The bridge would not only pave way for easy road connectivity with Jharkhand but also help security forces in countering the rebels.
Former chief minister Nitish Kumar had laid the foundation stone of the bridge in 2005, which hasn't seen the light of the day because of rebel hindrances.
Several workers involved in the bridge construction have been abducted from the region. The rebels never allowed the construction of the bridge in their stronghold for almost a decade.
'The rebels oppose the bridge because once it is constructed, we would have easy accessibility to inaccessible areas such as Ghutia in Jharkhand's Giridih. The rebels have their safe bastion inside the Ghutia forests. The corridor developed by the rebels through this region provides ample scope to operate in the region and also an easy escape route to Jharkhand. We have failed to even chase them because of inaccessibility of the region. But this bridge would give us easy connectivity with the region and also for carrying out easy operations against the rebels,' said a senior CRPF officer.
Echoing the officer, Jamui superintendent of police Upendra Prasad Singh said: 'Under the protection of the forces, the remaining work of the bridge would soon be completed.'
