Patna, Jan. 12: Senior CPM leader and national president of All India Progressive Women’s Committee (AIPWC) Suhasini Ali today demanded the resignation of deputy chief minister Sushil Kumar Modi for attacking Rupam Pathak’s character in Purnea MLA Rajkishore Keshari’s assassination case.

Ali with AIPWC activist’s and members of Bihar Mahila Samaj burnt Modi’s effigy at Dakbunglow roundabout.

Ali demanded Modi’s resignation for trying to influence the police investigation in the case.

She said: “Modi does not care about the judiciary and is making a mockery about it. On the day of the murder he went to Purnia and addressed the reporters and used words like blackmailer for Rupam Pathak.”

She said, “Seven month prior to the murder of Rajkishore Keshari on May 28, 2010, Rupam Pathak lodged a complain at K. Hatt police station against Keshari and his associates Bipin Rai. She reported that they had sexually exploited her for the past three years. Two days after, on May 30, 2010, Modi went to Purnia and addressed the reporters giving them a clean chit by saying that he knew them for past 25 years and they could not do such a thing. She was being pressurised and she had to withdraw the case.”

Ali said: “We do not support the murder but one must not forget that there must be a reason behind it and just recommending a probe will not help. There must be a thorough investigation.”

She said: “Why she stabbed him, there has to be a reason behind it, her 17-year-old daughter was not safe from the hand of Rajkishore Keshari and his associates, she was very helpless and must have taken such step under immense mental pressure.”

Ali said: “The state government is not taking any action against Bipin Rai and he is roaming freely. On top of that the reporter who tried to highlight the plight of Rupam Pathak is also arrested.”

She also said Pathak is not allowed to meet her advocate and her condition is bad in the jail. She also demanded unconditional release of the reporter Nawalesh Pathak.
