Patna, Feb. 10: Government Railway Police (GRP) today arrested three robbers and seized seven laptops and five mobiles worth Rs 4 lakh from their possession.
The rail cops conducted a three-day-long investigation before netting the gang.
“A special drive was conducted at the station after passengers, who have lost their laptops, filed a complaint. Our investigations helped us zero in on the gang,” said GRP inspector Ramakant Prasad.
He added: “I was personally involved in the investigation process. The large number of complaints bothered me. So I started travelling on the trains in plainclothes. I also carried a laptop with me. On the Patna-Howrah train, one of the gang members tried to pick my laptop. He was obviously not aware that he had stepped into our trap.”
The arrested men have been identified as Mohammad Pappu (27), the gang leader, Guddu Kumar (25) and Satish Kumar (26). While Pappu is a resident of Phulwarisharif, Guddu and Satish are residents of Khagaul.
“A probe is on to ascertain if the gang had more members,” said Prasad.
