Patna: Two senior BJP leaders took aim at Tejashwi Prasad Yadav on Wednesday, a day after the Enforcement Directorate (ED) took possession of his family's land in Saguna Mor on which a mall was being constructed.
Tejashwi should come out from the shadow of his father, RJD chief Lalu Prasad, and hand over his property to the government, declared deputy chief minister Sushil Kumar Modi.
"While Lalu Prasad faced corruption charges after crossing the age of 50 years, Tejashwi is facing the charge of having acquired 28 benami properties at the age of 28 only," Modi said.
Modi said that Tejashwi should make an announcement that he had no understanding of law when his father had made him a partner in corruption.
Tejashwi should also announce that he was returning his properties to the government so that the government could make hospitals, schools and orphanages there, Modi added.
In tandem with Modi's jab at the leader of Opposition, another senior BJP leader and state health minister Mangal Pandey welcomed the ED action and said that it was just the beginning.
The investigating agencies, Pandey said, were working to seal other properties of Lalu's family as well.
"The action of the ED is a lesson for politicians and bureaucrats who are neck deep in corruption," said the health minister.
Pandey too said that had Lalu's family distributed the mall land among the poor people, several of them would have got space for a home. It was still not too late, he added, and the family of Lalu Prasad should distribute all their properties among the poor.
