Land for Keventer Agro’s mega food park in Banka remains in a limbo.
Sources in the Banka district administration said on Thursday that the 100 acres of land in Bausa sub-division that it had earmarked for Keventer turned out to be “disputed”.
The state government was yet to take a formal decision on whether the land should be provided to the company, they said.
The government offered the land to Calcutta-based Keventer Agro in September and the acquisition process for it was going on, officials in the industries department had said.
They said a meeting was slated between Saran district magistrate, senior industries department officials and the chief secretary on November 4 in which a final decision was to be taken. But the meeting got postponed and a new date for the same has not been decided as yet.
“The land acquisition process was on but there have been some disputes. At this moment, the nature of the dispute cannot be disclosed. A meeting to solve the problems and to decide whether the land in Banka should be formally handed over to Keventer was slated to take place in the first week of November. Due to some reasons, the meeting could not take place. Until the land is fully acquired, the same cannot be forwarded to any agency, be it Infrastructure Development Authority (IDA) or Bihar Industrial Area Development Authority (Biada),” an official at Banka district administration said.
On Wednesday, Suman Kumar, the IDA director (administration), said their hands were tied, as the acquisition of the land in Banka had not been completed. Kumar added that they could transfer the land to Biada or the company only after they get possession of the land.
Other sources, however, said the acquisition process had not moved an inch since September and that the said meeting was expected on November 20.
