Judicial service cheer for CNLU

Patna: Mayuresh Srivastava, son of Anil Srivastava working as stenographer of a civil judge at Mau (Uttar Pradesh), has cracked the Uttar Pradesh Judicial Services Examination (civil judge).

Mayuresh, a student of Chanakya National Law University (CNLU) is among the five students from the varsity, who have cracked the UP Judicial Services Examination the result of which was declared last month.

Mayuresh, who will join the judicial service as civil judge, said: "It is a dream come true for me to crack the judicial services examination. I have seen my father working hard as a stenographer of civil judge at Mau. Now, I will become a civil judge." Mayuresh, along with three of his friends, Saksham Dwivedi, Akriti Gautam and Shaleen Mishra, from the 2011-16 batch have cracked the UP Judicial Services Examination. Prachi Agarwal from batch 2010-15, too, has cracked the examination.

Mayuresh said: "We appeared in the preliminary test of the Judicial Services Examination after completing our studies. As the teaching and syllabus of CNLU is the best, we did not face any difficulties."

Mayuresh is not the only one. Students from CNLU figure in good numbers in the Bihar Judicial Services Examination. SP Singh, the registrar of CNLU, said: "We have come to know that many students from our institute have cleared the Bihar Judicial Services Examination."

Singh said: "Around 35 students from different batches have cleared the Bihar Judicial Services Examination." The registrar said: "Many students after completing their course join corporate houses as legal advisors, but when they crack judicial services examination we are happier as the ultimate role of national law universities is to create good lawyers and judges."

Singh said Ram Manohar Choudhary of CNLU had secured 5th rank in the Bihar Judicial Services Examination while Rashmi Agarwal secured 7th position.

The Bihar Public Service Commission this year conducted the preliminary test and the Mains for appointment of civil judge. Based on the preliminary test and Mains results, 514 candidates were called for interview in October. A total of 194 candidates' results was declared for civil judge.

Apart from CNLU, 15 students from the postgraduate department of law of Patna University too have cracked the Bihar Judicial Services Examination this year.
