Life can change in a day. Management grad Amit Kumar realised it on Wednesday getting a job offer, a day after deputy chief minister Sushil Modi’s suggestion of becoming an entrepreneur left him disappointed.
On Tuesday, The Telegraph had reported the plight of Amit, a management graduate hailing from Rohtas who had turned up at Modi’s janata darbar seeking a job.
Owner of Shakti Sudha Industries and Confederation of Indian Industry’s eastern region vice-president Satyajit Kumar called up Amit around 9.30am on Wednesday and offered him a job in his firm. He also asked the youth to meet him on Saturday.
Satyajit told The Telegraph: “When I read the report in your newspaper, I felt disappointed that the deputy chief minister gave such a suggestion to the youth who needs a job. Modi suggested him to start his own business and become an entrepreneur. Has the state government created any infrastructure, which can support a young entrepreneur? If he wants to do a job, what is wrong in it? I was shocked to read that he offered such a suggestion.”
Satyajit, who has so far provided employment to 75 people, expressed disappointment over the attitude of the Bihar government regarding setting up industries.
“A few days ago, some food processing companies held a meeting and expressed disappointment over no active support of the administration for industrialisation. It shows that the state government is not interested in creating a suitable environment for small and big industries. How can a youth start a business? Will the banks finance him? The situation for the youth is very tough,” said Satyajit.
He added: “Even Indian Institute of Management graduates are struggling to start their own business in Bihar because the state government does not show any commitment in their interest.”
Satyajit added: “The government should frame some kind of policy, which can benefit young entrepreneurs.”
Asked about the job being offered to the youth, he said: “I have offered him a job in my firm and I will give all possible support to him. He will work in my company.”
Amit, who is a management graduate from Zakir Hussain Learning Institute, Patna, expressed happiness over the job offer and said: “I am thankful to The Telegraph who reported my plight in the newspaper. I am highly obliged to Satyajitji, who not only understood my problem but also offered me employment. I never imagined I would get a job in such a way. Maybe, it was written in my destiny.”
Amit’s father Sanjay Kumar Gupta expressed delight and said: “I wanted my son to get a decent job. I am thankful that finally that day has arrived. It is all because of The Telegraph. If the newspaper had not published the news about my son’s plight, he would not have got this job offer. I can only say one thing, God bless the newspaper.”
