Students of Montessori School at New Yarpur in Patna will have a new learning experience from Tuesday. The institution has decided to go the audio-visual way in imparting education to the children.

Christened “Smart Classes”, a separate period for audio-visual learning will be conducted from Play to Class VI. Addressing a news meet at Srikrishna Science Centre, chairman of the school Zahra Ahmad said: “Students will be taught different subjects such as social science, English, mathematics and Hindi through slide shows as part of the initiative. And these slide shows will be conducted in a fixed period, to be held on particular days of the week. The period would be called “smart class”. We have decided to hold smart classes three days a week for classes IV to VI, while for lower classes — Play, Nursery LKG and UKG — it will be organised two days a week.”

She said the new technique would end the “monotonous” and old school method of teaching children only through textbooks. “It will also help them learn fast,” she said.

Ahmad said one of the attractions of these classes would be that children will learn different subjects through a questionnaire.
