Patna, April 14: Bihar chief minister Nitish Kumar today announced the constitution of a human development mission (HDM) to step up the progress of human resource in the state. The ministers in-charge will review the implementation of the HDM in their respective districts.
Addressing a function on the occasion of 120th birth anniversary of Bhim Rao Ambedkar, Nitish also announced a hike in the allowance of “vikas mitras” (development friends) from Rs 3,500 to Rs 4,000 per month besides a bicycle to each of them. The government has appointed vikas mitras in all its panchayats to assist the implementation of the development schemes for the weaker sections. Concomitantly, the government released Rs 1.63 crore for providing bicycles to the vikas mitras.
“The world accepts the growth in GDP as the parameter of development. I do not accept the notion as I feel that the real development lies in reaching its fruits to the people at the lowest rung of the society,” Nitish said.
Nitish also announced transistors for all the Mahadalit families so that they can receive information about the schemes for them. According to the mode of distributing transistors, the manufacturing companies are supposed to organise fairs near the Mahadalit colonies and give them transistors.
