Patna, Aug. 26: The state human resource (HRD) department has released Rs 415 crore to pay the salaries of employees of nine state universities for June, July and August according to the Sixth Pay Commission.

However, 132 teachers of the universities would be getting salaries according to the Fifth Pay Commission and not the revised one as cases pertaining to their absorption are going on in the court.

There is some hope for these teachers as university sources indicated that the teachers may be paid from the internal sources to make their pay on a par with other teachers.

HRD secretary S. Shiv Kumar told The Telegraph: “We have released the salaries for teachers of Patna Uni- versity under the Sixth Pay Commission but these 132 teachers, including seniormost teachers of the university, will receive salaries under the old payscale (Fifth Pay Commission).”

The funds include the difference in amount for March, April and May, the pension and retirement benefits among others.

The university, however, would pay these teachers, whose absorption cases are still pending in the court, from its internal resources,

The HRD released over Rs 415 crore for the salaries of teachers and non-teaching employees for the nine universities in the state.

Just a few days ago, the HRD wrote a letter to the accountant general stating that 132 teachers of Patna University would not be paid salaries under the Sixth Pay Commission, but at the old scale under fifth pay package, as the case relating to their absorption is pending in court.
