Hospital ransack

Patna, Sept. 28: An unruly mob attacked the government sadar hospital in Nawada after one of three persons injured in a road accident succumbed to his injuries late on Wednesday night.

Police said three persons riding on a motorbike hit a concrete platform near Mastanganj village under the jurisdiction of Akbarpur police station around 9.30pm on Wednesday. The driver and the pillion riders suffered serious injuries.

Residents immediately informed Akbarpur police, which rushed to the spot. The injured were taken to Nawada sadar hospital for treatment. But one of them succumbed to injuries in the hospital around midnight. The other man died in hospital and the third one succumbed to injuries on his way to Patna Medical College and Hospital. Agitated over the death, his relatives and residents created a scene on the hospital premises. Nawada superintendent of police (SP) Vikas Burman said the mob ransacked the emergency, gynaecology, paediatric and general wards. Twelve people have been detained for interrogation.

Village tense

There was tension at Balia Bujurg village under the jurisdiction of Akbarpur police station after a group clash on Thursday night. The district administration has snapped Internet services in the district headquarters town as a precautionary measure. Additional armed police force has been deployed.
