Patna, Sept. 4: Give credit to Anna Hazare or his honesty, a youth has petitioned the state government to confiscate the “ill-acquired” property of his retired father, who served as the district supply officer (DSO) in the government.

The bizarre request to punish his father has come from Ajay Kumar, a resident of Vaishali district. Apparently impressed by Anna’s agitation, Ajay joined the campaign against corruption in his hometown at Hajipur, about 20km north of Patna.

In his written petition to the Vaishali district magistrate on Friday, the youth has alleged his father Ramchandra Ram amassed huge wealth and acquired assets by using corrupt means and misusing his position as the DSO during his posting in the government.

He sought for a thorough probe into his father’s assets and suitable penal action if he was found guilty which, he claimed, would serve as a lesson to all the corrupt officials engaged in making money by throwing all norms to the wind.

“Yes, I have requested the district magistrate of Vaishali to order an inquiry into my father’s ill-acquired assets and also submitted a detailed account of my father’s corrupt deeds. As a true follower of Anna, a social activist, I couldn’t have been a silent spectator to all these things,” Ajay said.

He said he would not drag his feet even if his action led to the judicial custody of his father, who is now leading a retired life at his ancestral village near Hajipur. “What’s the use of such money which brings ignominy in the society? I no longer want a share in such ill-acquired wealth of my father,” Ajay said.

Vaishali district magistrate Prem Singh Meena told The Telegraph that he would first look into the complaint by the youth and then decide the next course of action.

“I have not yet gone through any such complaint. It may have been submitted at my office and attached to the routine file. A number of petitions reach my office every day. But I will certainly look into it when the office opens,” he said.

Meena said the youth was free to lodge any complaint in the police station or with any investigating agency. “Isse acchha aur kya ho sakta hai ki koi apne pita ke khilaf janch ki mang kar raha ho (What better can one expect when a son demands action against his father for indulging in corrupt practices),” he added.
