Homeopathy medicine sellers in Patna downed shutters on Friday to protest the government's decision to ban homeopathy medicines in certain quantities.

The Bihar State Homeopathy Sangh's president and former MLA Daud Ali said if the government fails to address their concerns , they might opt for a strike. "In a meeting with our members we decided we would ask the government to take back its decision of banning 100ml, 450ml and 500ml homeopathy medicine bottles because we have already paid tax as also the company for our existing stock," Ali said. "The government should give us time to sell our stock."

"The government's decision to allow only 30ml bottles in homeopathy shops is illogical," Paras Lal, an association member, said. "We bring big homeopathy bottles but we sell it as per requirement which could range from 5ml to 15ml."

"Homeopathy medicines have an alcoholic base. Many people buy it out of addiction. So putting this ban was required," said a drug inspector.
