Patna: The high court on Monday ordered that the accused under Bihar Prohibition Excise Act, 2016, from now onwards would be granted anticipatory bail by the lower court too apart from the high court.

The order was passed by a division bench of Justice KK Mandal and Justice Madhuresh Prasad on a petition filed by Manish Kumar alias Lokesh Kumar and a bunch of other similar petitions.

The division bench order today reversed the order passed earlier by a single bench of the same court which had said anticipatory bail cannot be granted to the accused arrested for violation of prohibition as defined under section 76(2) of the Bihar Prohibition Excise Act 2016.
