Haryana lessons for state officials

Patna, Feb. 17: Thirty Bihar Administrative Services (BAS) officers have been sent to Haryana for mid-service training.

The officials, who have been sent by Bihar Institute of Public Administration and Rural Development (Bipard), are presently learning the nitty-gritty of industrialisation and land management policies of Haryana.

The first such initiative under the Bihar administrative reforms programme, the training of officers began at Haryana Institute of Public Administration (Hipa), Gurgaon, on February 13 and will continue till February 24.

Bipard deputy director Chandra Shekhar said the state government had entered into agreement with public administration institutes in five states where BAS officials will be sent in batches to learn administrative specialties of those states. “We have tied up with training institutes at Gurgaon, Jaipur, Mysore, Pune and Hyderabad, where all BAS officials will be sent under the administrative reform programmes as approved by the state cabinet recently. The officials have been divided into M1 (six-10 years of service), M2 (10-15 years of service) and M3 (15-20 years of service) categories. The first batch, which has been sent to Hipa, is from M1 category,” he said.

He added that there are a total of 85 officials in the M1 category and the second batch will be sent to Mysore for training shortly.

Ashok Vashistha, the officer on special duty, Hipa, told The Telegraph over telephone that officials from Bihar were being trained on industrialisation policy, land tenure system, land acquisition policy and reforms in agriculture sector.
