The government on Friday snubbed Tejashwi Prasad Yadav's request to continue in the same bungalow that he had been allotted when he was deputy chief minister.
According to an August 29 building construction department notification, deputy chief minister Sushil Kumar Modi was allotted 5 Deshratna Marg, which Tejashwi currently occupies, and the RJD leader was allotted 1 Polo Road, where Modi currently lives.
In the first week of September, Tejashwi had written to the chief minister's secretariat and the department requesting he be allowed to keep 5 Deshratna Marg.
'There will be no change in the allotment of bungalows,' building construction minister Maheshwar Hazari said on Friday. '5 Deshratna Marg has been earmarked for the deputy chief minister and 1 Polo Road has been earmarked for the leader of Opposition (in the Assembly, Tejashwi).'
The RJD fumed at the decision, even though both Tejashwi and his brother Tej Pratap Yadav actually live with their parents, Lalu Prasad and Rabri Devi, at 10 Circular Road.
'There is a conspiracy to finish our family but we are ready to face any problem and will see how long Nitish and Modi can trouble us,' Rabri declared. 'Even is they shoot us, we will not bow down. My son Tejashwi has been unnecessary targeted.'
A formal notice has been sent to Tejashwi, advising him to vacate the 5 Deshratna Marg bungalow as soon as possible.
'Tejashwi should not be so fascinated with the bungalow; he already owns more than 26 properties,' quipped JDU spokesperson Neeraj Kumar.
