Patna: Governor Satya Pal Malik has suggested holding a common entrance test for BEd courses.
Malik, while at a meeting with all vice-chancellors of state universities on Tuesday, suggested that a common entrance test be conducted for the BEd course and a committee of vice-chancellors and experts should be constituted for this.
Malik said: "The common entrance test will be applicable for all BEd colleges under all the universities. The universities will take turns to conduct the entrance test."
The test will have objective-type questions and admissions would be carried out on the basis of seats allotted to different BEd colleges.
A common entrance test for BEd assumes importance because it would check back-door entry of students. Different universities at their will conduct tests for BEd, a sought-after course.
The chancellor also directed the universities to complete all student union elections by March 31.
The chancellor also directed the VCs to prepare an academic calendar and follow it strictly.
The calendar consists of timetable of examinations and tentative dates when the results will be announced. Instructions were also issued to the VCs to install biometric attendance system at the universities, postgraduate departments and colleges.
Instructions were also issued to install CCTV cameras at the universities. The chancellor also asked the varsity heads to take action against irregular teachers.
