A newlywed girl of Dehri-on-Sone in Rohtas district has virtually confined herself to her parents’ house for the past several weeks to get rid of her stalker. Her alleged tormentor is, however, adamant on marrying her.
The 19-year-old victim, a resident of Mathuri locality under the jurisdiction of Dehri-on-Sone police station in Rohtas district, finally approached the Women’s police station in Rohtas on Sunday seeking the latter’s help to get rid of her stalker.
The girl told the police that she had a love affair with a youth, Ashif Ansari, before she got married to one Ali Hasan Ansari of Budhua village in Rohtas district, on June 4 this year. Ashif earlier allegedly exploited her for about six years on the pretext of marriage.
The girl’s written complaint alleged that her father got her married with Ali Hasan after Ashif’s parents refused consent for the marriage. Everything was fine till she remained in her in-laws’ house, she said.
But she had to undergo the trauma after she returned to her parents’ house a few weeks ago. Ashif started stalking her and kept pressuring her for marriage. “Once he even tried to abduct me,” she told the police.
She said since then, she prefers not to venture out of her parents’ house. “I apprehend trouble whenever I move out of my home,” she told the police.
She said her parents earlier tried to persuade Ashif not to harass but to no avail. On Sunday, she reported the matter to the police and a formal FIR was lodged against Ashif. His relatives have been booked on the charges of abetting the crime.
The station house officer of Women’s police station, Sweta Swaraj, said a complaint has been lodged against Ashif and efforts were on to arrest him. “But the prime accused is absconding after an FIR was lodged against him,” she told The Telegraph.
The SHO said a police team was on the lookout for the accused, who would be brought to book at the earliest. “Justice would be delivered to the victim, who comes from an economically backward family,” she added.
