Vijay Kumar Shukla alias Munna Shukla faced another FIR in the election season on Wednesday.
Munna — languishing in Khudiram Bose Memorial Central Jail, Muzaffarpur, and shifted to Bhagalpur Central Jail on Tuesday night — has been facing life imprisonment in connection with the murder of former minister Brij Bihari Prasad.
The Town police station has registered an FIR under section 188 of the Indian Penal Code on Tuesday night for his unlawful act of intimidation and asking voters to support his legislator wife Annu Shukla, contesting as an Independent candidate from the Vaishali Lok Sabha constituency in course of his production in the district court on April 22. Annu, who had won the Lalganj Assembly seat as a JD(U) candidate in 2013, resigned from the party on April 26.
“The FIR has been registered following the statement by Town police station SHO Sunil Kumar,” said senior superintendent of police Ranjit Kumar Mishra.
Munna was produced in the district court on April 22 and during his daylong stay there he reportedly interacted with hundreds of his supporters involved in campaigning of his wife’s election and gave necessary instruction to the voters on cellphone.
The Election Commission has received complaints for his alleged act from exile and intimidation to the voters in course of his court production. Policemen escorting Munna during his court production are also under probe for their links with him.
District election officer-cum-district magistrate Anupam Kumar had ordered high-level probe for Munna’s alleged involvement in seeking support to his wife and intimidation to the voters and recommended necessary action.
