Fillip to creativity in platinum jubilee fest - Youths arrive in Patna Women's College, showcase talent & make friends

Creativity was the buzzword on the Patna Women's College campus on Thursday as hundreds of students from the state and Jharkhand came together for the institution's platinum jubilee fest.

The institution is celebrating 75 years of existence with Pragyotsav, a cultural fest. Art, culture and youth affairs minister Vinay Bihari inaugurated the three-day fest on the college premises on Thursday.

Among the events held on the inaugural day were rangoli-making and impromptu (solo or duet) performance. At least 800 students have arrived from different parts of Bihar and Jharkhand to take part in the various competitions.

The students, presenton the campus on Thursday, were in a festive mood and so was chief guest Bihari. The minister even sang a few songs on demand of the students. 'I feel privileged to be at this institution and congratulate the college for organising such a grand event,' Bihari said.

Forty and odd companies have set up their stalls on the campus for the three-day fest. Among the goodies on sale are fashion apparel, food, boutiques, cosmetics, two-wheelers and jewellery. Radio jockeys and a music band from Bihar, Exquisite, were also slotted for performance on Thursday.

On Thursday, students showcased talents in making rangolis, apart from street play, extempore, creative writing and pantomime (solo and duet) performances. The host college secured first place in the street play, compeition PWC, IIT Patna and PWC bagged the first, second and third position in street play respectively while in competition, PWC, NIT and A N College got the first, second and third position respectively. In , PWC got first and second prize and B N College got the third while PWC bagged the first and third prize and Patna College got the second prize.For many, this was their first time inside the Patna Women's College and with due cause.The initiative taken by the college is really praiseworthy, as the concept of inviting students from other states is new for students of Bihar. I hope in the coming years, too, the other colleges would organise similar events.' on ThursdayPraising her students, Patna Women's College principal Sister Marie Jessi said: 'The women's college is like the Oxford of Bihar. Today, the efforts of all faculty members and students have proved this true.'

Wishing all the participants well, she added: 'Let your desire to achieve success shine for the rest of the world.'Around 800 students from 36 colleges including Patna University, Magadh University, Law college, Tech and fashion college students from Bihar and Jharkhand participated in three day Platinum Jubilee Fest- Pragyotsav at Patna Women's College on Thursday.

Vinay Bihari, minister of art, culture and youth inaugurated the fest and encouraged the youth who participated in the event.

Dr Sister Marie Jessi, the college principal said, 'Women's college is the Oxford of Bihar, and today the effort of faculty members and the students proved that we truly deserve this title. I always tell my students that only three thing is important in life to become successful- commitment, sincerity and hardwork. Success depends on right move you take and the right time you take. And our college is successful because we have taken the right turn from the beginning.'

She extends her best wishes to the participants and said, 'Let your lust to achieve success continues to shine for the rest of the world.'

Vinay Bihari set the mood of the fest by singing his written songs like 'Valmiki ne rachi narayan' on students demand. He said, 'I wrote more than 300 songs for Bhojpuri cinema, so I understood the importance of art and culture. I feel privileged to be in this institution and congratulate the college for organizing such a grand event.' He also promised that I can invite any artist from Mumbai film industry on demand of the principal and the students.

More than 40 stalls including fashion, food, boutiques, cosmetics, automobiles, jewellery and appraisal have been erected inside college campus. RJs and a music band from Bihar- Exquisite are also thereto entertained and make the students groove to shake their legs on music.

The students showed their talent in various competitions like rangoli making, impromptu (solo and duet), mono acting, street play, extempore, creative writing and pantomime (solo and duet).

Students from other colleges seems enjoying the fest and take part in completion with zeal. Some students got the opportunity to visit the college for the first time. Lakshaya Bhradwaj, a student of Chanakya National Law University is among one of them. He said, 'It's my first visit in this college and I am very excited about the competitions. The initiative taken by the college is really appreciable and the concept is really new for the students of Bihar. I hope in the coming year, the other colleges will also organise this type of events.'

Another student Niraj Sinha from A N College said, 'The programmes and activities are very innovative and it's a big platform for all the college students to show their talent. The fest also gives us an opportunity to interact with new people, make friends and enjoy this three day event.'

The fest also becomes get together party for some students. Soumya Shree, a student of Magadh Mahila College who participated in rangoli and face painting said, 'Some of my friends are studying in this college, so it's the perfect time for us to hang out and enjoy the togetherness. I enjoy the food and especially the time which I am going to spend with my friends.'

The results of the competitions are awaited.
