Festive fervour with Sultan

Salman Khan’s Sultan and cooling rains have set the tone for Id celebrations in the city. People were busy with last-minute shopping on Wednesday. Sweetmeat shops, bakeries, and sewaiyan (vermicelli) stalls were chock-a-block with customers. Id celebrations on Thursday will start with the morning namaz after which people usually visit friends and relatives to greet each other and savour delicacies. In the evening, many will go for dinner with friends and family, while many will also no doubt head to the theatres to watch Sultan. Faryal Rumi delves into the sights, sounds and smells of Id celebrations in the city.
