Patna, Oct. 19: A 21-year-old youth was duped of Rs 75,000 by a fake recruitment agency that promised him a Tata Motors production engineer’s job.

Michael Akbar, a resident of Patna City, today lodged an FIR at Gandhi Maidan police station in this connection.

Patna city superintendent of police (central) Shivdeep Lande said the boy had received an email last month, offering a vacancy in the Tata Motors’ Exhibition Road office.

“Once selected, the youth was asked to deposit Rs 25,000 in an ICICI Bank account for the appointment letter. The youth obeyed, but no such letter came. He received another email asking him to deposit Rs 55,000 more. The youth did so. Then, he got the letter by email. He took out its printout and approached the Tata Motors office today, where officials denied any such job offer and termed the appointment letter fake,” Lande said.
