The CBSE Class XII examination started on Friday with the English core paper and left smiles on the faces of most examinees in Patna.
While almost all students found the paper easy to attempt, some acknowledged they could have used the allotted three hours better.
Loyola High School’s student Aishwarya Arya found the paper easy, especially the writing section. She said: “There was no problem in answering the questions in any of the three sections — reading, writing and literature. The writing section comprising letter writing, article writing, notice writing and report writing was the easiest.”
At DAV, BSEB — the centre for Loyola High School, Kendriya Vidyalaya and other candidates — the predominant mood was that of happy. S.U. Sorte, the regional officer for Patna, said: “As many as 72,000 candidates are registered for the examination in the Patna region comprising Bihar and Jharkhand.”
Reshu Singh, also of Loyola High School, had a smile on her face when she left the centre even though she found the paper lengthy. “Few of the questions were very interesting,” she said.
Aman Kumar, a science stream student from Kendriya Vidyalaya, Bailey Road, found the paper but admitted he could have done better with time. He said: “The questions were not twisted but direct. The literature questions checked our concept. Whoever had studied well, wrote well.”
Gaurav Prakash of the same school also thought three hours were too less to complete the paper. “I had started with Section C (the literature section), so when I reached the first section, I could not attempt one question properly,” said the commerce stream student.
Shamanul Akhtar of the same stream realised all the questions were from syllabus and wasted no time in answering all the questions.
