Double glory for young golfer

Professional golfer Aman Raj (21), who has roots in the city, has made the cut in two international tournaments - PGM Port Dickson Golf Championship and PGM Penang Golf Championship in Malaysia.

Patna, June 4: Professional golfer Aman Raj (21), who has roots in the city, has made the cut in two international tournaments - PGM Port Dickson Golf Championship and PGM Penang Golf Championship in Malaysia.

Aman Raj, India's number one amateur golfer, was among three Indians, including Feroz Singh Garewal and Samarth Dwivedi, who made it to these two tournaments. In the finale of PGM Penang Golf Championship (June 1 to June 4), Aman fired a stunning 4 under 68 par, tying 15th with three others today.

On the first day, Aman and Garewal shot one over 73 each and were tied on 51st, while Aman picked up pace in the second round with two under 70 and was placed 30th. In the third round, he fired a superb 5 under 67 and was placed 13th.His gross score was 10 under 278 (73, 70, 67, 68) and settled for the 15th position in the PGM Penang Golf Championship. Around 114 players from different countries took part in this tournament.

Last week, Aman played PGM Port Dickson Golf Championship (May 25 to May 28) and scored 2 over 286 and was tied at the 46th position.

Sharing his experience of his first international tournament, Aman said: "It was very competitive and challenging. But I gave my best shot though I have long way to go."
