Gaya: The Dalai Lama will arrive in Bodhgaya on December 26 on a 50-day visit. Earlier, the Tibetan spiritual leader was scheduled to arrive in Bodhgaya on January 2 next.
The in-charge of the Tibet monastery, Bodhgaya, Tenzin Kunchuk alias Amji Lama and Tenjin Lungtok, on Tuesday met Gaya district magistrate (DM) Kumar Ravi and apprised him of the revised schedule. According to the plan, the Dalai Lama during his visit will also go to Sarnath and Pune to participate in different events. After arriving on December 26, he will leave for Sarnath on December 29 and return to the heritage city on January 2. He will go to Pune on January 9 and return to Bodhgaya on January 2. Finally, the Dalai Lama will leave Bodhgaya on January 11. After staying in Bodhgaya for 32 days, he will leave on February 12.
The duo who met the DM on Tuesday also presented a book titled Book of Joy authored by the Dalai Lama and Desmond Tutu.
During the meeting the duo requested the DM for necessary arrangements such as security, venue, cleanliness, power, water and health services. The DM assured to make available all facilities. He asked them to submit an application for venue. During his stay, the spiritual leader will impart teaching for three days each on two occasions - from January 5 to 7 and again from January 14 to 16 at the Kalchakra ground where a gathering of around 40,000 is expected to turn up.
