Patna: The district administration and Mahavir Mandir Trust have made elaborate arrangements for Ram Navami that will be celebrated on March 25.
The arrangements are meant to ensure people do not face problems during the Sobha Yatra procession which will start from 32 different places and pass the busy Dakbungalow roundabout.
Patna district magistrate Kumar Ravi and Mahavir Mandir secretary Acharya Kishore Kunal have completed a round of meeting two days ago and Ravi held a separate meeting with the police on Saturday. During the meeting, senior superintendent of police (SSP) Manu Maharaaj and traffic superintendent of police (SP) P.K. Das were also present.
Ravi instructed Das to make the traffic plan in such way so that common people do not face any problem. For convenience of devotees, it was decided that vehicles be parked at the multi-level parking, Miller High School, Beer Chand Patel Marg and a flank of Buddha Smriti Park will be used.
The Patna DM ordered the public health and engineering department to place water tankers at Mahavir Mandir, Veer Kunwar Singh Park, Dakbungalow and Buddh Smriti Park on March 25 for the devotees.
Speaking on the security of the temple, which receives the maximum crowd on Ram Navami, Ravi said: "An anti-sabotage drill will be conducted inside and around the temple. Instructions were given to city superintendent of police (central) D. Amarkesh to deploy a bomb squad team on the temple premises and thorough checking of the temple boundary."
On the other hand, Kunal has also made his own arrangements for devotees. Kunal said 350 private security guards have been hired for the day and 15 additional closed-circuit television cameras (CCTVs) have been installed apart from its 32 CCTVs.
"Like last year, the temple gate will open at 2am and eight counters will be opened from Mahavir Mandir to Veer Kunwar Singh Park. From 2am to 7am, devotees with prasad will be allowed and those without prasad will be allowed after 7am. We have hired three ambulances as well," Kunal told The Telegraph.
He stressed that people will be allowed to enter the temple premises through doorframe metal detector and proper frisking. There will be a separate queue for male and female devotees. Ten priests have been called from Ayodhya to perform special puja.
Proper shed will be made from Mahavir Mandir to Veer Kunwar Singh Park via GPO roundabout.
This time, 20,000kg of Naivedyam laddoos are being made for devotees. Kunal said traffic management meeting has not yet taken place but scheduled to happen in next two days.
