Muzaffarpur, April 30: The district police launched an intensive search operation in the Maoist-hit western parts of Muzaffarpur on Monday. Two suspected rebels were arrested.
Special Task Force personnel, accompanied by the district police headed by deputy superintendent of police (DSP) (east) Shibli Nomani and DSP (west) Anuj Kumar, launched the combing operations in areas such as Minapur, Saraiya, Deoriya Kothi, Paroo and Shivaipatti.
They conducted house-to-house search in eight villages and caught the two suspected rebels, who were staying in Minapur for four days..
Senior superintendent of police (Muzaffarpur) Rajesh Kumar said: “We are yet to ascertain the identities of the two suspected rebels.”
The Special Branch had alerted the district police administration about “increased organisational and nefarious activities” of the CPI(Maoist) in the western parts of the district.
