Patna, July 10: Three days after a final-year BTech student of National Institute of Technology (NIT), Patna, went missing, police are still clueless about his whereabouts.
Twenty-one-year-old Nit-esh went missing on July 7. A resident of Kachchi Ghat area of Patna City, he had left his home on July 7 morning to attend a programme organised to offer internship at Sanchar Bhavan. He did not return home thereafter. His cellphone, too, has been switched off.
The register at Sanchar Bhavan confirms that Nitesh did attend the programme that day.
His father, owner of a hotel in the Chowk area of Patna City, lodged an FIR at Kotwali police station on Saturday.
“The boy was last seen at Sanchar Bhavan, where he attended the programme. At present, we do not have any information about the whereabouts of the boy. Investigations are on. We are trying to find out whether the boy attended the full session or left midway,” an officer at the Kotwali police station said.
A relative of Nitesh said: “We inquired at Sanchar Bhavan and found that he had attended the programme. He left home for the event around 9am. In the afternoon, a relative called up on his cellphone and found that it switched off. When he did not return until late evening, we started to search for him. Nitesh’s father lodged an FIR with the Kotwali police station. He was very quiet by nature and good in academics.”
The family has not received any ransom call yet.
“We are checking his background to try and find out more about Nitesh. We are also conducting a check on his academic performance. Though not much can be said at present, it is a possibility that the boy decided not to return home because of some reason. One such reason could be his failure to get an internship. We are also questioning his friends,” the officer said.
