Plans are afoot to deploy police personnel at banks operating in the Maoist-hit areas of north Bihar.

Director-general of police Abhayanand has directed zonal inspector-general of police (Muzaffarpur) Gupteshwar Pandey to ensure police deployment at such banks.

Pandey said: “I have asked all senior superintendents of police and the superintendents of police in the region to make an account of the banks and deploy police personnel near the establishments.”

The move of the police was in response to a request from bank authorities.
