Police on Friday said security and traffic preparations for President Pranab Mukherjee’s visit to Patna on Saturday were “concrete”.

The President would be here to attend the second convocation of IIT-Patna at Rabindra Bhavan on Beer Chand Patel Marg. According to the schedule, the President will be landing at Patna airport at 4.05pm and will attend the ceremony between 4.30pm and 5.45pm. He will be leaving for New Delhi at 6.05pm.

“Preparations are complete and there will be no problem at all. The route rehearsals were done on Thursday and Friday. He will be taken to the convocation venue from the airport through Hardinge Road. Barricading and road diversions have been made accordingly. Twenty-one vehicles, in addition to an ambulance, will be escorting the President to the venue. The Hardinge Road will be turned into a one-way,” a police officer said.

He added that around 4,000 policemen would be posted at strategic locations in Patna during the President’s visit.
