Coming up: More nursing schools

Health minister Mangal Pandey on Friday said the state government will open more auxiliary nurse midwife (ANM) and general nursing and midwifery (GNM) schools to boost patient care in Bihar.

Patna: Health minister Mangal Pandey on Friday said the state government will open more auxiliary nurse midwife (ANM) and general nursing and midwifery (GNM) schools to boost patient care in Bihar.

Pandey said this while inaugurating the website of the Bihar Nursing Registration Council at the health department on Friday.

Major works of the Bihar Nursing Registration Council includes registration and granting certificates to qualified nurses to practice their profession and to watch and take action against malpractices in the profession. Besides, it also regulates training programme of the diploma, graduate and postgraduate courses in nursing.

Pandey said that with the inauguration of the website, the State Nursing Registration Council operations were extended online.

The website offers information on the syllabus of the revised auxiliary nurse midwife (RANM), general nursing and midwifery (GNM), Bachelor of Science (BSc) and Master of Science (MSc) nursing courses apart from information on the list of affiliated government and private nursing institutions.

He said nurses of the Bihar Nursing Registration Council would also felicitate smooth process for transfer of registration of nurses who had received their degree from other state institutions. "The nursing institutes can make payment under various heads online. They no need to visit the council office for this. All this would smooth their functioning," he said.
