Baisakhi celebrations

Around 3,000 Sikh devotees took out a procession from Guru Ka Bagh to Takht Sri Harmandir Sahib (a distance of around 4km) in Patna City on the occasion of Baisakhi on Monday.
The temple management committee of Takht Sri Harmandir Sahib organised the procession. Panj Pyaras, the chief priests, and children took part in the procession. The Sikh devotees also displayed their martial arts skills during the procession. An akhand path was also organised at Takht Sri Harmandir Sahib on the occasion. The Gurdwara (Takht Sri Harmandir Sahib) was decked up to mark the celebration. Members of Punjabi Bradri (an association of Sikh community) also organised Baishakhi celebration at SK Memorial Hall. Cultural programmes were organised to celebration the occasion.
PMC committee meet
The empowered standing committee's meeting of Patna Municipal Corporation was held at its Mauryalok office on Monday.
Many decisions that were taken in the last meeting of the standing committee of the Patna Municipal Corporation were reviewed on Monday. The decision of purchasing the six categories of sanitation instruments would be implemented soon. It was also decided in the Monday's meeting that Bihar Urban infrastructure Development Corporation Limited would be asked about the time frame in which it could complete the work regarding the finalisation of the rates at which the equipment would be procured. Mayor Afzal Imam said if BUIDCo would delay the same, the work be assigned to some other organisation. "All the wards had been earlier earmarked Rs 50 lakh for the development work but money could not released. In today (Monday) standing committee's meeting we decided that funds regarding the same would be released at the earliest," said Imam.
Art exhibition
Two artists siblings - Neha Napoor and Ankita Napoor - from Chhapra won praise from visitors for their paintings and artwork that they have been put on display during an ongoing exhibition.
On the third day of the exhibition on Monday, the visitors thronged the venue and praised their work. The exhibition was inaugurated on April 9 and will continue till April 15. Neha Napoor said: "It is the fourth time we have displayed our artwork here and we have received good response from professionals and amateur artists. Our parents always inspired us and support us from time to time."
Artist K.N. Dubey appreciated the hard work of the girls and said: "We understand the world through history, geography and economics but understanding the world through an artist's view has always been exciting. Thoughts are well carved and splashed on canvas."
"The paintings are really thoughtful. This is the first time I have ever visited an art gallery and liked it. It makes me think about my life and I think the painting convey the message well. I am even looking forward to buy some crafts," said Mughda Singh, a visitor at the exhibition.

Induction programme
New cabinets for session of 2015-2016 for both ICSE and CBSE wings of the International School were inducted on Monday.
The ceremony kick started with an oath ceremony followed by a speech by Farhat Hasan, the school principal. "Discipline plays a vital role in shaping the students' future. Education is all about an overall growth of the personality. One of the important qualities is leadership, which gives students the confidence and help them to reach their goals," he said.
The parade of the outgoing former bench was followed by that of the new cabinet followed by the distribution of badges to the new members. Samridhi Singh, the cabinet secretary, of the ICSE wing, said: "My aim is to take care of the rules and regulation of the school. I will help in bridging the gap between the school administration and students." Swastika Chandra, the cabinet secretary of the CBSE wing, said: "The aim of the secretaries of both the wings is to take the school to new heights. I will focus on more participation of students in cultural activities."
