Patna, Sept. 14: Plans are afoot to register all children shelter homes of Bihar with the social welfare department and to provide detailed information about their inmates on its website for couples looking for adoption.
The step aims at two things — to monitor these homes to ensure that child residents get facilities according to norms and also to provide authentic information about such destitutes to couples eager to adopt a child.
“We have invited applications from individuals and agencies running such homes in the state. After verification, we would register the homes with our department. The homes would be regularly monitored to ensure that child boarders get facilities as per norms,” social welfare department minister Parveen Amanullah told The Telegraph today over phone from Delhi.
She was in Delhi to take part in the two-day meeting by the ministry of women and child development that ended today. “So far, 36 agencies have applied for registration. Once registration of homes is over, the department would provide detailed information of the home children on its website for couples looking for adoption,” she said.
