Patna, Sept. 22: A two-member Pharmacy Council of India team visited Government Pharmacy Institute for inspections on Friday.

The team comprised Prabhat Kumar Sahu from Delhi Institute of Pharmaceutical Sciences and Research (Dipsar) and Kanchan Kohli from Jamia Hamdard.

Sources said the Pharmacy Council of India team would be here till Sunday to check the facilities for BPharma and DPharma courses running at the institute.

Sources said students of BPharma and DPharma have sent a letter to the PCI on Friday through mail regarding lack of facilities at the college. The letter also mentions about the non-regularisation of their session.

One of the DPharma students of the institute said: 'The PCI had pointed out many deficiencies in its last visit which have not been addressed. The PCI had raised objections on lack of facilities in the college library apart from having mainly contract teachers and non-regularisation of the session. Even now our library is hardly equipped.'

The principal of the Government Pharmacy Institute, Shalendra Kumar Sinha, admitted about the lack of facilities at the college.

'We have sent a file to the department asking for basic facilities. Around Rs 4.6 crore for internal infrastructure development has been given technical approval but it is awaiting administration nod. The government shouldn't delay the sanction of funds,' Sinha said.
