Patna, March 10: The Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) has asked the schools to submit copies of the internal assessments conducted by them. Reason: the board wants to review if the schools have marked the copies properly.
A source said the board will conduct sample checks to review the internal assessment papers. The review will be conducted only for Class X students.
Students have to take two terms examinations each in classes IX and X. The first term has formative assessment (FA) 1, FA 2, summative assessment (SA) 1. The second term has FA 3, FA 4 and SA 2.
But since the system was introduced mid-term, the present Class X batch has taken only FA 3, FA 4 and SA 2 exams in Class IX. The final exam is the SA 2 — conducted either by the board or schools —that they are taking at present.
A source said schools have been asked to send the marks of all the exams the students had taken in Class IX by March 15 this year, and the marks of exams taken in Class X by March 31.
If the students are taking the school-based SA 2 exam, the marks have to be submitted to the board by April 20 this year.
The board will use sample checking to review whether the evaluation of the school conducted exams have been done correctly and the prescribed marking pattern has been followed. The board will review the marks of only a single subject.
The papers will be divided into three categories — top level, middle level and bottom level. Schools will have to send the papers of the five highest scorers in the top level and any five from the other two levels for review.
