Patna: Patna district magistrate (DM) Sanjay Kumar Agarwal has decided to install CCTV cameras in block, circle and registry offices to improve the work culture in government offices.
"First, it will help maintain attendance and people will come on time," the district magistrate told The Telegraph on Thursday. "I would also be able to check the facilities the visitors are getting in the offices."
He said he often gets complaints against officials and the cameras would help him ascertain whether the grievances are genuine.
The cameras, he said, would also help him check the menace of middlemen.
A dedicated person will look after the CCTV system and an information technology (IT) manager would be deputed in the control room in the district headquarters.
"I would be directly accessing the footage because it would be there on the Internet as well and by sitting my chamber I can keep a close watch on our employees," Agarwal said.
Eight CCTV cameras have also been installed on the main Collectorate premises.
There are 23 block offices, 23 circle offices, six sub-divisional offices and around 15 offices in the Patna Collectorate.
