Movers and shakers
After a month of inhibitions, the first-year students let their hair down on the dance floor shaking a leg to the latest chartbusters. So, how can a party be complete without foot tapping and rocking Bollywood numbers? From the groovy Desi Boyz track Subah hone na de, Vidya Balan’s sizzling Ooh la la from The Dirty Picture to the latest songs of Student of the Year — the vivacious Disco Deewane and Radha — urged all the youngsters to get up and dance. International hits too blared out of the sound system. But the peg of the evening was the naagin (snake) dance. The seniors coaxed and cajoled the newcomers to show some serpentine moves and the latter seemed too pleased to oblige.
“I enjoyed doing the naagin dance. I did this for the first time and didn’t knew that I would have so much fun doing such crazy steps,” said first-year law student Amay. The seniors on the other hand cheered and encouraged the juniors.
Ink on skin
A bat here, a snake there. To emphasise on the wicked and wild side, the girls ganged up to give a devilish streak to their looks with sinister tattoos. They applied red eyeshadow and tattooed their cheeks with animal imprints. Talking about her tattoo, Sagarika said: “We wanted to bring out the devil in us and look sexy at the same time. So, we decided to have tattoos on our faces.”
Time for bear hug
Youngsters received a big and warm welcome at the Chanakya National Law University’s freshers’ party last Friday. The senior students of the institute kept an out-of-the-box and quirky theme for the party — Angels and Devils — to have some serious fun with the new batch. Obliging their seniors, the giggling batch of newbies sported a similar look. While the girls chose to be the devils with glittering red horns on their heads, the boys donned pristine white outfits with flowing wings.
Gorgeous girls
The event was high on fashion quotient, as the PYTs (pretty young things) were seen wearing short and shimmering georgette dresses teamed with funky jewellery and high heels.
“This was the perfect event to break the ice with our juniors. The freshers’ day celebrations also gave a chance to the new students to showcase their talents and establish a rapport. We aimed at motivating the younger lot and allowed them to open up to us,” said Anjali, a senior student, who anchored the event with great enthusiasm.
