| Maharashtra PWD minister Chhagan Bhujbal (left) and Upendra Kushwaha at the birth anniversary function of Shaheed Jagdeo Prasad at SK Memorial Hall in Patna on Sunday. The birth anniversary of the late socialist leader was celebrated under the banner of Akhil Bharatiya Mahatma Phule Samata Parishad. Addressing a packed hall, Bhujbal said: “Time has come when our people (Other Backward Classes) should be at the helm of power. We have faced only poverty and false promises. How long will we tolerate this? Only numbers matter in a democracy and our number is quite huge. We comprise 54 per cent of the total population. If we start sending our people to Parliament, we will also get reservation in the judiciary.” Without naming chief minister Nitish Kumar, Kushwaha, a former JD(U) Rajya Sabha MP who has formed the Rashtriya Lok Samata Party, said: “We should be cautious while choosing friends and foes.” Text by Amit Bhelari, picture by Jai Prakash |
