NDRF on toes for festival
PATNA: The 9th battalion of the NDRF has deputed teams in Patna, Buxar, Bhojpur and Supaul for Chhath. The commandant of the NDRF, Vijay Sinha, said seven NDRF teams have been deployed along the ghats of Patna from Tuesday morning and they were equipped with latest machines to carry out rescue work. The teams will remain there till the morning of Doosri Arghya (October 27). He said around 600 NDRF personnel with 70 inflatable boats were deputed from the pontoon bridge at Danapur to Patna City. The teams have trained divers, swimmers and deep diving sets. The base camp of the NDRF has been set up in Digha Ghat and Gai Ghat and headquarters have been established at Gandhi Ghat.
Thrashing over cow
CHHAPRA: A group of residents thrashed a man on Tuesday allegedly for transporting over 30 cows in a truck. Police said the residents intercepted a truck near Bhuli village on Ekma-Parsa road and brutally assaulted the driver and a man accompanying him. The station house officer of Ekma police station Neeraj Kumar said seven persons were nabbed during raids conducted at different places of the district. The arrested are Chhotu Prasad, Tuntun Nat, Mahesh Patel, Tej Verma, Jitendra Nat, Satyendra Nat and Videshi Nat.
