Ban on 6 noodles brands

Patna, Aug. 1: The health department's food safety wing today banned noodles of six brands for a month as lead beyond permissible limits and monosodium glutamate was found in samples.

The six firms whose noodles have been banned from August 2 to September 1 include Hindustan Unilever Limited, Glaxosmithkline Consumer Healthcare Limited, Capital Foods Pvt Ltd, Indo Nissin Foods Limited, ITC Limited and Nestle Limited.

MCI denial

Patna: Medical Council of India has denied recognition to three postgraduate seats of medicine department at Nalanda Medical College and Hospital and two postgraduate seats of physiology department at Jawaharlal Nehru Medical College and Hospital (Bhagalpur).

Gang hunt

Patna: Police have formed a team to look for a gang that enters jewellery shops posing as customers, fools salesmen and steals ornaments. Complaints have come from two shops at Bakarganj and Patel Nagar. Those with information can dial 100.

Pappu bandh

Patna: Jan Adhikar Party national convener and Madhepura MP Pappu Yadav on Saturday met relatives of a minor who was raped in Khagaria and called for a bandh there on August 2.
