Scientist house probe

Patna: Chief secretary Anjani Kumar Singh on Monday directed Rohtas district magistrate Sandeep R. Pudakalkatti to look into the case of unauthorised occupants taking over Bhabha Atomic Research Centre, Mumbai, senior scientist Jyoti Nath Sharma’s ancestral house.
 
Following the order, the Rohtas district magistrate asked the sub-divisional officer concerned to dig out details and take appropriate action in case the claim of forceful occupation was true. 

Maoist raid 

Muzaffarpur: Police on Monday caught eight Maoists at Suhasni village under Deoria police station. Senior superintendent of police Ranjit K. Mishra said officers raided the village after getting a tip-off

Blaze kills two 

Gopalganj: Runa Devi (30) and her infant were charred to death when her hut caught fire from a stove in the early hours of Monday. The blaze engulfed five more huts at Hamhari village, destroying household items worth thousands of rupees.

Riverine study

Patna: Chief minister Nitish Kumar on Monday directed the water resources department to conduct satellite-based survey of the riverine area in Mokama in Patna district to verify earlier studies. 

Protest

Munger: Contract teachers in Munger brought evaluation of matriculation answer scripts to a halt on Monday when they blocked the main gate of the centre, stopping the teachers from entering the premises. 

MU registrar

Gaya: Magadh University registrar D.K. Yadav on Monday submitted his resignation to vice-chancellor Mohammad Ishtiaq. Resigning, Yadav claimed he was doing so for personal reasons and that people were trying to make deals in his name. Yadav has been named accused in a case lodged by the state vigilance bureau in connection with appointment of 12 principals in constituent colleges under the Magadh University.  

Prisoner dead

Gaya: Inmates of Gaya Central Jail on Monday created ruckus after the death of an 83-year old prisoner, Nandlal. 

Missing boy 

Ara: Police recovered the body of 10-year-old student Santosh Kumar from Chhapra Hajipur village in Bhojpur district on Monday. The child, a resident of Bhadgar village, was kidnapped on his way home from school on Saturday. Two suspects have been detained. 

Kids injured

Khagaria: At least 12 students of a renowned public school in Khagaria were injured when a bus carrying them overturned and fell into a ditch in Gogari on Monday. Six of them have been referred to Khagaria hospital. 

CUB entry test

Patna, April 20: The admission process of Central University of South Bihar (CUSB), formerly known as Central University of Bihar, is in progress for the forthcoming session.

The online entrance tests for admission in BA/BSc BEd and BA/BSc LLB (Honours) programmes would be held on May 30 and 31 at 35 centres across the country.

Cancellation

Patna: The state government has cancelled the licence issued to Ex-Servicemen's Welfare and Security Private Ltd on the recommendation of the Buxar superintendent of police. During verification, police found that the private security agency office didn't exit on the address mentioned in the licence. The home department issued a notification in this regard on Monday.

Power cut

Patna: Power supply would be disconnected for one to three hours on Wednesday in some colonies or areas of the capital because of shutdown for maintenance work of 11KV feeders concerned. Supply would be affected from noon in Rajiv Nagar, Keshri Nagar and Indrapuri. Areas of Khankah, Golistan Mohalla and Mahavir Cancer Hospital would see power cut of three hours from 9am.

Shot dead

Hajipur: A youth, identified as Pankaj Kumar, was shot dead by criminals near Kapileshwar Chowk under the jurisdiction of Ganga Bridge police station in Vaishali district on Sunday night. Police said two bikers opened fire at Pankaj when he was standing in front of a stationery shop. The police had to face people's wrath for arriving late on the spot. Gang rivalry is the suspected reason behind the murder.

CID probe

Patna: The state government has handed over the probe into the death of one Pallav Jha under mysterious circumstances at the Saharsa-based residence of former MP Dinesh Chandra Yadav to the criminal investigation department. Sources said the post-mortem report had confirmed that Pallav, a resident of Kayasth Tola, was murdered. Earlier, the investigating officer of the case had obtained order from the respective court to arrest prime suspects Kundan Kumar, Bullet Rajak, Mantu Kumar and Tuntun Kumar for alleged involvement in the case.

Talk show

Patna: Bihar Industries Association (BIA) on Monday organised a talk show on "Stress Management through space management" on its premises. The show aimed at emphasising on "stress-free life with simple vastu rules". On this occasion, a reputable vastu mentor, Dr Rupa Batra, addressed the members on lifestyle, stress and its remedy. Dr Batra is the founder of Global Vastu for Peaceful Living, a company that provides services related to vastu, feng shui, astrology and nameology. BIA president Arun Agarwal, while welcoming the guests and participants, said: "Vastu shastra is an ancient science of architecture and construction that helps in making a congenial setting in life."
