Gaya: Sleuths of state vigilance investigation bureau arrested MGNREGA programme officer Vinod Kumar Suman from Nawada on Tuesday for accepting Rs 10,000 as bribe from a resident of Dehri at his residence.
Vinod demanded money from a certain Manoj Kumar to submit muster rolls #of daily wage workers for clearance.
Manoj alleged that he tried to persuade the official but in vain. Finally, he lodged a complaint with the vigilance bureau in Patna.
Subsequently, a police team headed by deputy superintendent of police Gopal Paswan raided the residence of the programme officer and caught him red-handed while accepting bribe. The money was recovered from his possession.
The arrested public servant would be produced in the special vigilance court in Patna on Wednesday after interrogation at the vigilance police station.
Sources in the bureau said so far three public servants have been arrested on corruption charges this month.
Since January, a total of 88 people have been arrested and forwarded to judicial custody in the state on charges of corruption. A total of 81 cases have been registered at the vigilance police station in Patna.
